The ambassadors travel book

For nearly two months we have been travelling through France and its neighboring countries to meet up with you and share in our love of fine linen.

Our airstream was a wonderful success, people were very curious and took many photographs. Our trip lasted 56 days and we crossed 5 countries, stopping in 21 cities totaling more than 7,000 km overall!  What an amazing road trip!  Everywhere we went we received a warm welcome.  Seeing the wonder and curiosity of the passers-by was truly incredible and we were so proud to be part of this adventure.  Even the press and public dignitaries came to the airstream and learned about the Yves Delorme history, the brand and the beautiful and luxurious bed linen in which you can dream and travel.

We will definitively miss the beeping and the waving when we were travelling aboard our airstream.  As for the soundtrack, which was played repeatedly every 4 minutes I am not sure if we will miss it!  It was a truly exceptional adventure that will stay in our minds for a long time, and hopefully in yours also.

We wanted to thank everyone for their participation into this project, you made it so beautiful.  A personal thank you to all the shops and their teams for all their help and wonderful welcome.  Thank you for visiting us in each town where we stopped and for those who couldn’t meet us but followed us through the blog and social networks.

Thank you to the internal teams at Fremaux-Delorme who helped us prepare this epic journey.  Thanks also to all our partners: Madame Figaro, le Fil Rouge and of course the agency Aistream-event especially Samuel de Pierpont for his amazing driving!

From Haubourdin to Bath here is a summary of our first stopovers.

The inauguration of our trip was on Thursday 16th July and all the company’s staff were present for the celebration of our departure in our airstream for the Linen Road. After a few days of rain, the sun was shining at last and we saw it as a good omen for this fantastic adventure.

Our first stop was Lille, Place Rihour. It was a pleasure to see the curiosity of the passerby regarding the airstream. Although the installation of the airstream was quite problematic, especially the U-turn on the Grand Place, people were absolutely delighted with all the hoo-ha and camera and smartphones were out to immortalize this moment.

A big thank you to Dominique Fremaux, CEO of the company, who was there with us on this first day and wished us good luck for this beautiful adventure.

On Sunday 19th July, we drove to Calais to catch the ferry for our next stopovers, London and Bath, UK. Unfortunately, we missed our ferry due to a wrong exit we took earlier. The next ferry was full so we had to wait for another 50minutes but we eventually boarded the next one.
A little miscalculation in our timing, I agree, but the weather was superb, blue sky and all apart from the wind which created havoc in our hair so we decided to return inside.
We arrived in Dover safe and sound and from there to London the trip went smoothly. London is a beautiful city and wandering at night in the Westminster area was quite magical.

Monday 20th July and we are in Duke of York square. Organizers from the Duke of York square were waiting for us to help us with the setting up. The weather was good and so was our mood.

People were quite surprised and filled with curiosity about the airstream, some were asking questions, and some others were just glancing off and taking pictures.
To celebrate our arrival in London, Prune organized a small gathering at the Ellis Street shop where we met the staff. We were welcomed with a glass of champagne and some delicious French patisserie. Bravo Prune and thank you for all your time and effort.

Wednesday 22th July we arrived in Bath, Milsom Place. Another exciting day where we met a lot of interesting people, again asking questions about the whole concept of the airstream. It was a pleasure to explain the purpose of the event and share with them our passion for beautiful linens. The feedback was very positive so the day ended in a good mood.

The journey back to France went very well, no wrong exit this time, the ferry was waiting for us, the weather was beautiful. All in all, we had a marvelous time in England.

Thank you everyone for making this first week so memorable whether you are a sales person or manager. A special thank you for all of you who came to say hello and discover the airstream, it was such a pleasure to meet you all. Thank you also for people following us on the blog.

As for us, we are continuing our fabulous Linen Road journey.

See you very soon!
